Do I need a referral to see a practitioner at Ace Sports Clinic?

No, you do not require a referral to see any of our practitioners. Osteopathic manual practitioners, physiotherapists and chiropractors are health care practitioners who can accurately diagnose and manage all musculoskeletal injuries. We work closely with sports doctors and GPs, so are always happy to collaborate with your doctor if you request.

Please check with your private health insurance company as some require a referral in order to provide you with reimbursement for our services.

How should I prepare for my visit?

  • If it is your first visit, please complete all of the applicable forms online prior to your appointment. These forms will be emailed to you. If you experience any difficulties with the forms, please arrive 15-20 minutes before your scheduled appointment time so that we can assist you.
  • Bring comfortable loose-fitting clothing to allow for the comprehensive assessment (t-shirt, shorts, running shoes).
  • Bring any relevant medical information, copies of scans and reports, doctors’ notes and your current exercise program. These documents can also be emailed to us.

Do you do direct billing/accept Extended Health Insurance Benefits?

We do not do direct billing or accept Extended Health Insurance Benefits. You must pay in the Clinic for your session and we will provide you with a receipt and invoice to submit to your insurance company. Please check with your insurance company to learn more about your coverage and claim submission process.

What kind of payment methods do you accept?

We accept MasterCard, Visa, American Express and Direct Debit.

How many sessions will I need?

The number of sessions depends on your individual condition, goals, and progress. After your initial assessment, we will provide a tailored treatment plan and expected duration. We will also continually reassess and adjust your plan based on your progress and recovery.

What should I wear to my appointment?

Wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing that allows you to move freely. Depending on the area being treated, you may be asked to remove certain clothing items to allow for a thorough assessment.

What can I expect during my first appointment?

During your initial appointment, one of our Ace-Certified Practitioners will conduct a thorough assessment, including discussing your medical history, current symptoms, and any relevant lifestyle factors. They will then perform a physical examination to assess movement, strength, and any areas of pain. Based on this assessment, your therapist will develop a personalized client care plan tailored to your needs.

Can I still exercise while receiving treatment?

In many cases, light exercise or specific movements are encouraged to support your recovery. Your therapist can guide you on what activities are safe and beneficial and will tailor advice to your specific condition.

Do you offer treatment for chronic pain conditions?

Yes, we work with a variety of chronic pain conditions, including back pain, joint pain, and conditions such as arthritis. We focus on creating sustainable, long-term management plans that address the root cause and help improve your quality of life.

Will treatment be painful?

Some treatments, like sports massage or joint mobilization, may cause mild discomfort, especially if you have sensitive or injured tissues. Your Ace-Certified Practitioner will communicate with you during treatment to ensure you are comfortable and will adjust techniques as needed.

Are your services covered by OHIP?

No.  Allied Health Services like Physiotherapy, Osteopathy, Registered Massage Therapy and Kinesiology are not covered by OHIP, however, your Extended Health Benefits may cover some of your out of pocket expenses.
