Irene Valmas – Clinical Pilates & Foundation Training Instructor

BKin (Hons)

Irene is a Certified Stott Pilates Instructor and Foundation Training Instructor with 14 years of diverse experience. Her journey in the field of Health and Wellness began in 2002 following injuries from a car accident and a subsequent four-year rehabilitation program. Irene made the decision to shift her discipline to Kinesiology and Health Science in an effort to better understand her injuries and her desire for a full recovery. Empowered by her experiences, Irene began to seek out new and innovative routines and disciplines to help people reach the state of wellness that she has come to value greatly.

Irene utilizes the movement practices of Pilates and Foundation Training in teaching her clients to take control of their posture, change the way they move, and improve performance by addressing maladaptive movement patterns and correcting imbalances. Irene holds a specialization in Pilates for Golf Conditioning and is able to help athletic performance requiring work in bilateral differences contributing to sporting asymmetries.

With her diverse background, education and expertise, Irene offers an effective approach to the sporting world in improving performance, longevity, recovery, pain and prevention. Her mission is simple – to help clients achieve their optimal health. Irene is often referred to as the “Missing Link” by her clients in helping them understand and improve their fitness and its application to both daily life and athletic performance.

Irene is also a Certified Yoga Instructor, C.P.T. and Cancer and the Older Adult Training Specialist. Previously, Irene has worked as part of the Health and Wellness program teaching Pilates at Sick Kids Hospital for 6 years. She has also done work for the Toronto District School Board, the City of Toronto, Parks and Recreation and served as the National Director of Communications & Public Relations at Therapeutic Paws of Canada.
