Josh Downer – Health & Performance Coach / Personal Trainier

Josh Downer graduated from the University of Guelph-Humber receiving a Bachelors of Kinesiology as
well as a Health and Fitness Promotion Diploma. Josh is a Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist
with the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) and an Eleiko Certified Olympic
Weightlifting Strength Coach.
Throughout his College Diploma program, his undergraduate degree and various certifications, Josh
became qualified in administering many tests and assessments that aid in the development of
client-personalized training programs. These tests include: body composition assessments (skin fold and
BodPod), VO2 Max and sub-maximal testing, flexibility, muscle strength and endurance testing as well as
movement assessment.
Josh has and continues to work with both high performance athletes and general fitness clients,
administering a battery of assessments, developing strength & conditioning programs and helping
athletes and clients return to peak function from injury. He is passionate in his desire to help clients
overcome injury, live healthier lives and reach their performance goals.
Josh’s career started working with physiotherapy clients at the Health and Performance Center at the
University of Guelph. From there he worked with general fitness clients, physiotherapy clients and high
performance athletes while developing his training philosophy, which blends rehabilitative and
preventative training methods with tried and true strength training protocols.
